what we heard neighbors say
Originally Boston Square Together heard the neighbors say they want to see more business ownership that is reflective of the community. Neighbors confirmed this by adding that they wanted to see black-owned businesses and small businesses owned by their neighbors.
Why a food incubator?
Sustainable food, small business ownership/entrepreneurship opportunities and accessible resources were priorities for neighbors in initial feedback loops. Food was a central topic in most groups and conversations as many neighbors have used Cottage Law standards to grow businesses within home kitchens. Financial accessibility to a commercial kitchen was a priority for neighbors who showed interest in the idea plus the need for technical support to begin or grow a business or idea.
